Pricing by size and coat — the Pricing page

Updated

On this page

Go to Sidebar → Business Settings → Pricing. Only owners and managers can open this page.

The old Grooming Pricing and Pricing Rules pages now live here. Old links open the right tab for you.

The three tabs

  • Services & Grooming — the base price of every service, each service's size and coat matrix, and the sizes and coats the matrix uses.
  • Boarding & Daycare — nightly and daily rates for each room group, plus Weight Tiers.
  • Date Rules — holiday, weekend and peak-date surcharges. See Add-ons, condition modifiers and surcharges.

Step 1 — set your pet sizes

  1. Open Services & Grooming and scroll to Grooming Dimensions.
  2. Open the Pet Sizes tab and press Add Size.
  3. Enter a Label (such as Medium), From (lbs) and Up to (lbs). Leave Up to blank on your biggest size. Blank means "and up".
  4. Save. Repeat for each size.

A dog right on a boundary counts as the larger size. If your ranges have a gap or overlap, Alaga shows Check your weight ranges.

If you remove a size, every matrix price that uses it is deleted too. Dogs in that weight range go back to the base price.

Step 2 — set your coat types (optional)

  1. Open the Coat Types tab and press Add Coat Type.
  2. Enter a Label, such as Curly / Wool.
  3. Pick a Breed-mapping key if one fits. Coat types with a key are suggested from a dog's breed. Coat types without one are set by staff on the pet's profile, in the Coat Type field.

The Breed Suggestions tab shows which coat type each breed suggests. Alaga ships defaults for common breeds. Press Add Override to change one. A suggestion never locks a price — staff can always set the coat type on the pet.

Step 3 — fill in the matrix

  1. In Service Prices, find the service and press Add matrix (or Edit matrix). You can also do this in the service form under Sidebar → Services.
  2. Turn on Price by Size. It stays greyed out until you have at least one size.
  3. To price coats differently, turn on Vary by coat type. The All coats column is the fallback for any coat without its own price.
  4. Type a price in each cell on the Prices ($) tab. Leave a cell blank if you don't price that combination.
  5. Optional: on the Time (min) tab, give a cell its own length, so a large doodle books a longer slot. A cell with a time must also have a price.
  6. Save.

The service list now shows a price range with "by size", and the service card under Services shows By size. Click a base price in Service Prices to change it right there.

How Alaga picks the price for a dog

When you book, Alaga suggests a price in this order:

  1. The dog's own price. A price saved on the pet's Custom Pricing card, or remembered from an earlier checkout. For services set to remember Per dog and groomer, each groomer's price for that dog is offered as a one-tap suggestion.
  2. The matrix cell for the dog's size and coat. If that coat has no price, the All coats cell for that size is used.
  3. An estimate. If the dog has no weight on file, or its cell is blank, the booking form shows an estimated range and starts from the base price. Staff set the final price after seeing the dog.
  4. The base price, for services with no matrix.

Staff with permission to edit prices can always type a different price for one visit.

No weight on file? The booking form asks "How big is [pet]?" Pick a size and the visit is priced from it. That size is saved as an estimated weight. For a weighed dog, use Adjust size to change the size for that one booking only.
