Feeding and medication schedules

It starts on the pet record
Feeding and medication details belong to the pet, not the booking. On the pet's profile you record its feeding times, amount, food type, special diet, whether treats are allowed, instructions, and its medications.
Set this once and every future stay uses it. When an owner tells you something changed, update the pet record, or every future stay repeats the old instructions.
The clock times behind the Morning, Midday, Afternoon and Evening feeding slots are set in Business Settings → Business Profile → Hours → Feeding Times.
Confirm it at check-in
Check-in asks, "Has the pet's feeding schedule changed?" You must tick Confirmed before you can continue. If the pet has no feeding times yet, you set them right there. This is your chance to catch a food change while the owner is in front of you.
How the task lists are built
When a pet is checked in, Alaga creates its care tasks for every day of the stay:
- One feeding task for each feeding slot on the pet record. If the pet has no feeding times, Alaga adds Morning and Evening feedings and notes that the schedule is unconfirmed.
- One medication task for each dose.
- On checkout day, only the Morning feeding.
- Walks, if you turned on Add daily walks to boarding stays in Business Settings → Facility Settings → Task Times & Walks.
Changing a medication later updates the unfinished tasks. Finished tasks are never changed.
Feeding Schedule and Medication Schedule
These screens show one kind of task for all pets, by day or by week.
- Pick the day.
- Work down each slot — Morning (Breakfast), Afternoon (Lunch) and Evening (Dinner) for feeding.
- Press Fed (or Given for medication) as you do it. Press Skip if it did not happen.
Pets with dietary restrictions show a Dietary badge. Today's Progress shows how many are done.
Kennel Tasks
Kennel Tasks puts feeding, medication, walks and other care in one list. It is the best screen for a staff member doing a round.
- Pick the day, then view By Time, By Pet or By Room.
- For feeding, pick how much the pet ate: Ate all, Ate most, Ate some, Ate little or Refused.
- For medication, pick Given, Refused or Skipped. For a walk, tick it when done. Its menu lets you move it to another time or Remove this walk — a removed walk is not added back.
- Add notes when something is worth telling the owner.
Other tools on this page:
- Add Task adds a one-off task, such as a bath reminder.
- Auto-assign shares out unassigned tasks among staff. My Tasks shows only yours.
- Print All (or Print My Tasks) prints the list.
Both screens write to the same record, so it does not matter which you use.
Good habits
- Log as you go, not at the end of the shift. The log is your proof if an owner asks about care later.
- Record refusals and missed doses. A blank is unclear. A recorded refusal is information.
- Watch the "ate" trend. A dog eating less each day is the earliest sign something is wrong.
Common problems
- A feeding note says the schedule is unconfirmed. The pet record has no feeding times. Add them on the pet's profile.
- Tasks still show for a pet that went home. The stay was not checked out.
- Instructions are out of date. They come from the pet record. Update it there.
