Your Alaga subscription and billing

Updated

On this page

Sidebar: Business Settings → Billing.

Two different flows of money

Worth separating before anything else, because they get confused constantly:

  • Your subscription is what you pay Alaga each month for the software. That is this page.
  • Your takings are what your customers pay you. Those are under Payment Settings, and Alaga does not take them.

A question about a customer's card belongs in Payment Settings. A question about your own bill belongs here.

Your plan

Billing shows the plan you are on and what it includes. The plans are:

  • Starter — the core: calendar, clients and pets, services, invoicing and checkout
  • Professional — adds text notifications, packages, marketing, the waitlist, payroll, time tracking, promo codes and staff capacity
  • Premium — adds boarding reservations and kennel management, phone calling, triggered campaigns, card readers and custom branding
  • Enterprise — multi-location, API access and custom integrations

If a feature you expected is missing, check here before assuming something is broken — see I can't see a feature other people can.

Changing plan

Change it from this page. Upgrades take effect immediately, which is the point of upgrading: the feature you needed appears.

Downgrading needs more thought. Features outside your new plan stop being available, and anything relying on them stops with it. Before dropping below Premium, check whether you have boarding reservations in the diary; before dropping below Professional, check whether reminder texts are part of how you run.

Downgrading does not delete data. A feature you cannot see still has its records, and upgrading again brings them back.

Cancelling

Cancel from the same page. Two things to plan for:

  • Export what you need first. Client lists, financial reports for your accountant, anything you are required to keep. Do this while you still have access.
  • Your booking page stops. Clients using your portal link will not be able to book. Tell them where to go instead before the cancellation date, not after.

Payment method

Update your card from this page. If a subscription payment fails you will be contacted before anything is switched off — a failed payment does not lock you out that day.

Keep the card current. The most common cause of a disrupted account is an expired card nobody noticed.

Trials

On a trial, everything included in the trial works normally. When it ends, features outside your chosen plan stop being visible. Your data is not touched.

Getting a copy of your bill

Your subscription invoices and receipts are available from Billing. That is what your accountant needs for the software as a business expense — separate from the reports covering your own trading.

If billing seems wrong

Include your business name, the amount, the date, and what you expected. Do not cancel to stop a charge you are querying — that makes it harder to sort out, not easier.
