Troubleshooting

I can't see a feature other people can

On this page

Three separate things decide whether you can see something in Alaga. Work out which one is in play before changing any settings — they are fixed in completely different places.

1. Your role

Roles set the shape of the whole app. An owner sees everything, a manager sees most operational areas, and staff see the parts of the product they need to do their shift.

Some areas are owner-only by design and cannot be granted to anyone else, including Billing, Business Profile and Payment Settings. If a manager cannot see Billing, that is not a fault and there is no switch for it.

Check who has which role under Team Members.

2. A permission inside your role

Within a role, individual permissions can be switched on and off, either through a role template or per person. This is what to look at when two of your staff have "the same job" but see different things — they are on different templates, or someone has an override.

Go to Business Settings → Roles & Permissions, find the template the person is on, and compare it against the one for someone who can see the feature. Per-person overrides live on the individual's record under Team Members.

Only owners and managers can change permissions.

3. Your plan

Some features belong to higher plans. When a feature is not on your plan you see a locked panel explaining which plan includes it, rather than the feature itself.

Roughly:

  • Starter covers the core: calendar, clients and pets, services, invoicing and checkout.
  • Professional adds text notifications, packages, marketing, the waitlist, payroll, time tracking, promo codes and staff capacity.
  • Premium adds boarding reservations and kennel management, phone calling, triggered campaigns, card readers and custom branding.
  • Enterprise covers multi-location, API access and custom integrations.

Your current plan is on Business Settings → Billing, which is also where you change it. If you are on a trial, features included in the trial stop being visible when it ends.

Telling them apart quickly

  • You see a locked panel offering an upgrade → it is your plan. Nothing about roles or permissions will change it.
  • The menu item simply is not there, and a colleague can see it → role or permissions.
  • The menu item is not there for anybody, including the owner → plan, or the feature is somewhere other than where you are looking.

Before you conclude it is broken

  • Sign out and back in. Role and plan changes are picked up when your session refreshes. Someone promoted to manager ten minutes ago may still be carrying the old permissions.
  • Check you are looking in the right place. Alaga's settings moved into grouped sections; several things people believe are missing are one level in from where they expect. Search from the dashboard header (or press Ctrl-K, Cmd-K on a Mac) — it searches your records and the Help Center together.
  • Check the business. If you work for more than one business in Alaga, you see whatever the business you are currently signed in to has.

If none of the three explains it, tell Support your role, your plan, and the exact menu item you expect to see. Those three facts resolve nearly every report of this kind on the first reply.
