Your notifications and muting categories

Updated

On this page

These are notifications for you and your team inside Alaga. They are not the emails and texts your clients get. Those are set under Business Settings, then Customer Notifications. See Reminder timing and message templates.

The bell

The bell is in the bar at the top of every page.

  • Needs action items are pinned at the top until someone deals with them or you dismiss them. Examples: a new online booking waiting for confirmation, a time-off request to approve.
  • Everything else (warnings and updates) follows, newest first.
  • The badge on the bell counts open action items. With none, it shows how many you have not read.
  • Click a notification to go straight to the thing it is about.
  • Press the X on a notification to dismiss it.
  • View all notifications opens the full Notifications page.

When an action item arrives, a pop-up also appears in the corner, so the front desk does not have to watch the bell.

The Notifications page

Sidebar: Notifications. Everyone on the team has this page.

  • Tabs across the top: All, Needs action, Warnings and Updates.
  • A category filter, and an Unread switch to hide what you have read.
  • Mark all read marks everything as read.
  • Load more shows older notifications.

What you get notified about

Who gets what depends on the event. Some examples:

  • A client books or requests online — owners and managers get an action item. It clears for everyone once someone confirms or declines it.
  • An appointment is assigned to you — you get notified. If it moves to someone else, it moves with it.
  • An appointment starts within 2 hours with nobody assigned — a warning for owners and managers.
  • A staff member requests time off — owners and managers get an action item. The staff member is told when it is approved or denied.
  • A pet arriving in the next 7 days has an expired vaccine — a pet safety warning for owners and managers.
  • Invoices are overdue — one daily summary with the count and total, for owners and managers.
  • Your text allowance is 80% used, credits are low, or texts are paused — owners and managers.
  • Support replies to your request.

Some notifications expire on their own once they no longer matter, such as a booking request after its start time.

Muting a category

At the bottom of the Notifications page, the Notification preferences card lists eight categories:

  • Bookings
  • Payments
  • Scheduling
  • Pet safety
  • Inventory
  • Client retention
  • Support
  • System

Switch one off to stop getting it. This only affects you. Other staff still get it. Muted notifications are never delivered to you, so switching the category back on does not bring back the ones you missed.

Not getting a notification you expected?

  1. Check you have not muted that category.
  2. Check the Unread switch and category filter are not hiding it.
  3. Some events only go to owners and managers.
