# Recurring and standing appointments
Sidebar: **Calendar**. Set the repeat when you create the appointment.

Regular groom clients are the ones worth doing this for — booking a six-weekly client twelve months ahead in one action, and knowing the slot is held.

## The repeat options

- **Every week**
- **Every 2 weeks**
- **Every 3 weeks**
- **Every 6 weeks**
- **Every month**
- **Custom interval** — any number of days

Three and six weeks are there because that is how grooming schedules actually work. If your interval is not listed, use the custom option and give it a number of days.

You also set an **end date**. Series need one; a year ahead is a sensible default, and it is easy to extend later.

## Changing one visit

Open that appointment and edit it as normal. Moving a single visit does not move the rest of the series — a client who is away one week can be shifted or cancelled on their own without disturbing anything else.

This is the behaviour you want most of the time.

## Changing the whole series

Open any appointment in the series and use the recurring options on it. From there you can change the interval — moving a client from every six weeks to every four, for example — or change the end date.

Changing the pattern rebuilds the upcoming appointments in the series. Visits that have already happened are not touched.

## Ending a series

Set the end date to today, or cancel the remaining appointments. Past visits stay on the record either way — a client who stops coming should not disappear from last year's revenue.

## What to watch

- **Staff assignment carries through the series.** If the groomer changes, update the series rather than the individual bookings, or you will be editing the same thing repeatedly.
- **Prices are set when the series is created.** Raising your prices does not reprice appointments already booked. Recreate the series, or edit the price on the individual bookings, when you change your rates.
- **Check the calendar after creating a long series.** A six-weekly booking a year out will eventually land on a bank holiday or a week you are closed. Scan the series once and move the ones that clash.
- **Reminders go out per appointment**, so a client on a standing booking gets the normal reminder before each visit rather than one for the whole series.
